DroneAcharya Aerial Innovations Limited (DAIL) has announced the launch of a new heavy-lift, high-altitude, long-range drone with multi-mission capabilities called BHUJANG (Battlefield Hybrid UAV for Joint Attack, Navigation and Guarding).

Promoting BHUJANG as India’s first super high altitude multi-rotor multi-role drone, it features a quadcopter configuration with four engines and is equipped with an Electro-Optic (EO) sensor and a gun.

Prateek Srivastava, Founder and Managing Director of DAIL, said BHUJANG had undergone successful tests with the Indian Army. He said the drone featured an advanced opto-electronics system and multiple payload-dropping mechanisms with auto-trigger capabilities. The drone has an extra layer of security and encryption at the firmware level and has an encrypted communication system with flight computation of negative altitude calculations, used with proprietary software and a sensor suite with advanced algorithms.

The new multi-rotor drone can achieve an altitude of 1,500m above ground level from a 4,800m high take-off point and has a maximum operating altitude of 6,300m.

Major General (Dr) Mandip Singh, President – Defence Vertical at DroneAcharya, said BHUJANG has been launched after a lot of research and scores of test flights in difficult weather and rough terrain in coordination with the Indian Army.
