In what is a double blow for Air India, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has now withdrawn approval for the airline’s Airbus A320 training facility in Hyderabad.

This follows the aviation regulators decision to revoke Air India’s approval for its Boeing simulator training facility in Mumbai a few days earlier.

Air India’s approval to operate its simulator training facilities in Mumbai and Hyderabad has both been suspended following the identification of lapses during audits and inspections.

The A320 is the lifeblood of Air India’s domestic operations, and any disruptions in pilot training could throw the airline’s flight schedules out of gear. The airline will now have to send its pilots to other simulator training facilities in India or abroad to undertake training for its Airbus and Boeing pilots.

Air India operates five different types of Airbus single-aisle jetliners – A319, A320ceo, A320neo, A321ceo and A320neo. It also operates three Boeing widebody types - B777-8, B777-200LR and B777-300ER.
