In a significant move, Dassault Systèmes and BMW Group have joined forces in a long-term strategic partnership aimed at reshaping the future of engineering at BMW. At the heart of this collaboration is the implementation of Dassault Systèmes' cutting-edge 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) platform, set to empower over 17,000 BMW employees across various engineering disciplines.
The integration of the 3DX platform is anticipated to streamline BMW's vehicle development process, from ideation to production, marking a significant leap towards quicker time-to-market.
Julien Hohenstein, Vice President Processes, Digitalisation, Governance Idea to Offer at the BMW Group research and development, highlighted the importance of thinking digitally and working collaboratively. 'We will only optimise our engineering process if we think digital, work connected, and rely on an integrated data. For the BMW Group, the 3DX platform will support this approach and help to reach a higher level of quality in our processes,' stated Hohenstein.
The 3DX platform will serve as the core of BMW Group's future product development environment, enabling all engineering disciplines to collaborate on a virtual twin of a vehicle. This virtual model can be configured for different variants of each model, providing real-time, integrated data. The platform's capabilities facilitate easier component reuse, mastery of the complexities of car variability, and improvements in the engineering-to-manufacturing cycle time.
Additionally, BMW Group will seamlessly migrate data from its existing IT solutions and extend the 3DX platform to other disciplines, including modelling and simulation. This move marks the next phase in the longstanding collaboration between Dassault Systèmes and BMW Group, where both entities have historically pooled their expertise to drive technological innovation in various areas such as production planning, scheduling, part design, and production efficiency.
Laurence Montanari, Vice President, Transportation & Mobility Industry, Dassault Systèmes, said, 'BMW Group and Dassault Systèmes are technology-driven companies that are entering a new era of shared innovation to deliver best-in-class products. With the 3DX platform, BMW Group can rethink its engineering development process to deliver the most personalized and sustainable experiences to its customers.'
This strategic alliance signifies a significant leap into a future where collaborative innovation is set to redefine the automotive engineering landscape, delivering unparalleled products and experiences to BMW Group customers.
