Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has reached a major milestone in its sustainability journey by achieving 100% renewable power utilization at its state-of-the-art Oragadam production facility, ahead of its original end-2025 target.
This achievement showcases DICV’s focus on environmental protection and decarbonization, as the company successfully reduces Scope 2 emissions through a comprehensive renewable energy strategy.
Since 2018, DICV has steadily expanded its renewable energy initiatives, integrating onsite solar power generation with offsite renewable power procurement. The company now offsets 22,970 tons of CO₂ emissions annually, reflecting its proactive approach to sustainability. A key element of this strategy is its 4,300 kW peak-capacity solar power plant, powered by 15,000 solar panels, which contributes 17% of DICV’s renewable power and offsets approximately 4,000 tons of CO₂e emissions annually.
Satyakam Arya, Managing Director & CEO of DICV, said, “This milestone demonstrates our commitment to decarbonizing operations. Since 2018, we have built the necessary infrastructure to maximize renewable energy reliance, and now we have successfully reached our goal under Scope 2 emissions. Supportive state and central policies, including green power purchases, played a key role in enabling this transformation.”
Beyond renewable power adoption, DICV continues to focus on energy efficiency and exploring alternative renewable sources to further minimize CO₂e emissions. By integrating advanced sustainability practices, the company is setting new benchmarks in carbon-neutral manufacturing, reinforcing its commitment to creating a greener future and driving meaningful environmental impact.
