The new age e2W startup, Creatara Mobility, has announced that it has been awarded the grants of INR 64 lakh under the Sona Comstar - IIT Delhi innovation programme for safe, clean and eco-friendly mobility.
The programme is a joint initiative by Sona Comstar and Foundation for Innovation and Technology (FIIT) and was open to young startups working in EV technologies, vehicle safety solutions, and other efficient mobility and connectivity solutions.
Speaking to Mobility Outlook, Vikas Gupta, Co-founder, Creatara Mobility, said that the company provides multiple fail-safe mechanisms from cell level to pack level.
He added, “The cells are being tested in-house, and we have our own standards for grading parameters and sorting, which we also developed in-house.”
With this, the company received its second grant after it won INR1 lakh in the Altair Startup Challenge 2022 for optimising structural components and major systems through the early product design and development phase.
Incubated under IIT Delhi and mentored by I V Rao, Visiting Senior Fellow, TERI and former Chief General Manager, Maruti Udyog, the startup aims to bring in e2W products targeted towards the gen Z.
Gupta revealed that the product would be based on an in house designed 72V platform, and the e2W will feature a 3kWh lithium-ion swappable battery and a 3kW motor. Additionally, BMS telematics and IoT data are also developed in-house, among others.
However, these in-house components are currently being outsourced from component manufacturers established in the Delhi NCR region. Further, to make the product more suitable for the target customers, the company integrates its proprietary platform, CIRO (Connected, Intelligent, Responsive and Optimum).
The always-on connected system leverages the Internet, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to adapt to the user and provide information, including journey driving cycle patterns and battery health monitoring system, among others.
Expected to be launched at the next Auto Expo, the e2W is currently being tested by the manufacturer and is expected to enter into the ARAI certification stage soon. In the initial stage, the company plans to retail the product in the Delhi NCR region alone, Gupta revealed.
The vehicle prototype has been under testing with the IIT Delhi students, and their feedback has been considered. This will help the company understand the customer’s pain points better.
Furthermore, he added that Creatara is also considering a B2B version of the e2W based on the same platform. “We see a huge gap in the segment currently as either the products are quite under powered or lack tech features,” Gupta said.
“As a company we are working on the adoption of electric vehicles. We are starting with Gen Z, but yes, there is a huge portfolio,” he concluded.
