Continental's Radar Vision Parking has been honoured with a CES 2024 Innovation Award in the Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility category. This solution integrates high-resolution surround radars and cameras, helping in parking scenarios with precise and close-range measurements around the vehicle.
A press release from Continental stated that the Radar Vision Parking not only serves as a substitute for conventional ultrasonic sensors but surpasses them in both design and performance. Its compact radars, mounted discreetly behind painted bumpers, provide a redundant, seamless 360° view around the vehicle, eliminating the need for additional sensors.
The system's early parking slot detection allows users to park in a single stroke without driving past the spot, enhancing overall convenience.
Beyond standard parking assistance, Radar Vision Parking enhances object height detection, determining object over-rideability or under-rideability, contributing to reduced accidents in parking garages. The solution's next-generation environmental model improves efficiency in utilizing existing and future parking facilities, offering significant benefits in convenience, comfort, and safety for end users.
Ismail Dagli, Head of the Autonomous Mobility Business Area at Continental, stated, “The CES Innovation Awards are a testament to our team’s dedication, hard work, and commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible.”
Daniel Förster, Head of Product Line Parking and Product Line Human Vision, Autonomous Mobility Business Area at Continental, emphasized on the systems’ impact on driver experience, turning a potentially unpleasant parking scenario into a seamless and future-oriented mobility solution.
