Under the banner 'Innovating Transportation – From Road to Cloud!” Continental is set to present an impressive array of advancements in commercial vehicle technology at the IAA Transportation 2024 event, held from September 17 to 22.
Continental’s offerings at the event will include high-performance computers (HPCs) and software designed to handle the vast data requirements of modern vehicles. These technologies form the backbone of Continental’s intelligent services, aimed at enhancing fleet efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring compliance with legal standards. The company will showcase its HPCs for commercial vehicle cockpits and cross-domain zone control units, which integrate power supplies for various vehicle components, alongside its Automotive Edge framework CAEdge, a cloud-based platform for developing and testing vehicle software.
One highlight of Continental’s display will be the introduction of two new iterations of its ContiConnect digital tire management solutions. The ContiConnect Lite offers a cost-effective mobile solution for tire monitoring via Bluetooth, while the ContiConnect Pro provides comprehensive tire health insights through a web portal and mobile app, including real-time alerts and predictive maintenance services.
In response to the increasing demand for sustainable transport solutions, Continental will present several innovations aimed at improving road transport sustainability. These include the Tough RuNR air springs, which use a high-performance ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM) to reduce the carbon footprint by more than 50 percent without compromising performance. The company will also showcase a new sustainable bus tire with low rolling resistance, high recycled material content, and compatibility with electric vehicles (EVs), alongside advanced thermal management solutions for battery-electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles.
Continental also has a collaboration with Aurora for autonomous transport to develop the world’s first scalable Level 4 autonomous trucking system, scheduled to start production in 2027. At IAA Transportation 2024, Continental will provide insights into this project, including the industrial fall-back system designed to ensure operational safety in case of primary system failures.
Road safety products will include the smart tachograph (V2) DTCO 4.1 and the plug-and-play solution VDO Link. These intelligent global tachograph solutions help enforce EU Mobility Package regulations and provide safe, reliable data services. Additionally, Continental will introduce a new truck tyre that combines best-in-class energy efficiency with outstanding braking performance, further enhancing safety and operational efficiency.
