Continental Tires has commenced manufacturing various new products at its Modipuram plant for passenger and commercial vehicles. The company has launched 19-inch and 20-inch rims for premium sedans and SUVs. Further, the company has also introduced Digital Solutions to its existing Conti360 fleet solutions for its new products and address the changing tyre needs of Indian customers, noted Samir Gupta, Managing Director, Continental Tires India and Head of Central Region BA PLT RE APAC.
“India is an important market for us. We are confident that the new locally manufactured articles will give us a competitive advantage and position us better to meet India's changing and growing tyres needs,” he said.
As per the company, the tyres for the premium SUV segment were primarily imported and were not extensively manufactured locally in India. Continental Tires is investing in extensive R&D to address the growing demand and localise the production of tyres for the premium SUV segment.
The new Digital Solutions by Continental make it more convenient for fleets to start digital tyre monitoring, noted Kuldeep Singh, Vice President of Manufacturing, Continental Tires, Plant Modipuram.
He said, “The teams at Modipuram, in collaboration with the R&D team, have worked tirelessly to innovate and offer new solutions to fulfill the requirements of the Indian market. We are very pleased with the outcomes. The initiative has increased the expertise to produce new and innovative products locally at the Modipuram plant.”
