CNH has commenced production of its new 2.8-litre TREM V-compliant engine at its manufacturing facility in Greater Noida. The engine is currently being produced for construction equipment with CEV V norms, with plans to introduce it for agricultural machinery once the TREM V emission standards come into effect. The Italy-developed F28 engine has 60% localisation value, 199 parts being sourced locally, while 75 are imported. The company is working towards increasing it to 90% in a phased manner.

The F28 engine has been developed under a licensing agreement with FPT Industrial, the powertrain division of Iveco Group. It features a compact design that enhances engine balance, reduces vibrations, and improves fuel efficiency. Designed to fit under-hood applications, the engine ensures optimal power output while adhering to stringent emission norms. The Noida facility, spread over 7,000 square metres within CNH’s 60-acre manufacturing hub, has been built with AI-driven systems, digital process management, and robotic cleaning technology to ensure precision and efficiency in production. The plant has an annual production capacity of up to 20,000 units, which will support both domestic and export markets.

Narinder Mittal, President and Managing Director, CNH India, stated that the launch of the F28 engine aligns with the company’s goal of producing high-quality, locally manufactured solutions. He highlighted CNH’s focus on innovation and sustainability, adding that the new powertrain technology will enhance the performance and reliability of CNH’s construction and agricultural equipment in India. The localisation of such engines is expected to reduce dependence on imports while providing a robust solution tailored for Indian working conditions.

CNH has a strong presence in India through its brands, including Case IH, New Holland, and CASE Construction Equipment. The company has been operating in the country for over 25 years, manufacturing and supplying a wide range of agricultural and construction machinery. With a workforce of over 40,000 employees globally, CNH focuses on developing sustainable technologies that improve efficiency and productivity for farmers and construction professionals.
