Unofficial bookings of the Tata Curvv rival are currently underway.

Citroen India has officially revealed the production-spec Basalt ahead of its launch which is expected to take place in the coming weeks. While the automaker has revealed the exterior design, the interior is still under wraps and likely to be unveiled on 2 August.

The Basalt debuts in a new coupe SUV segment, which currently has only the Tata Curvv as its rival. It remains to be seen though as to which of the two cars will be launched first. The new Basalt boasts a sloping roofline, which is one of the most crucial design elements of the car. Joining the mix is the high ground clearance, giving it a higher ‘SUV’ stance.

A few other elements that help the Basalt pull off the SUV image include strong fenders, geometric shape of the wheel arches, and chunky bumpers accompanied by faux skid plates. A few more visual design cues include the sculpted clamshell bonnet, machined alloy wheels, wraparound taillights, X-shaped split LED DRLs, and floating blades on the C-pillar.

Citroen has remained tight-lipped on the specifications of the upcoming Basalt coupe-SUV. That said, we expect the company to offer the 1.2-litre, turbo-petrol engine paired with manual and automatic transmissions. The power figures could be rated at 109bhp and 215Nm.
