Chalo Expands Fleet As Commuter Demand Rises In Mumbai mobility outlook

In response to the increasing demand for its luxury AC bus service, Chalo, operating under a license from BEST, is set to expand its fleet by 44%. This strategic move comes after a notable 50% growth in ridership over the past three months, with a current daily average of 10,000 commuters on weekdays. The fleet expansion will see the addition of new electric luxury AC buses, bringing the total network size to 144 buses.

Commuters on these routes can expect a significant rise in daily trips, with increases ranging from 15% to 40%. The Belapur-Colaba route, which connects Navi Mumbai to Colaba via the newly opened MTHL-Atal Setu and Eastern Freeway, has become exceptionally popular. To meet this growing demand, Chalo has boosted the number of trips on this route by 50%.

Mohit Dubey, CEO of Chalo, stated 'With the introduction of new travel plans and the expansion of our fleet, Chalo will be adding new all-day and weekend routes as well, providing a seamless and affordable public transport experience across Mumbai.'
