The Centre has disbursed INR 3,311 crore as incentives to end consumers buying electric vehicles under Phase-II of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME II India) scheme.
Krishan Pal Gurjar, Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries, provided this information during a recent Rajya Sabha session. All in all, 766,478 EVs have been supported with the incentive.
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has also sanctioned 6,315 e-buses to 65 cities/STUs/CTUs/ State Government entities for intracity and intercity operations across 26 states/UTs under the scheme. It has also sanctioned 2,877 charging stations in 68 cities across 25 states/UTs under FAME II.
From INR 500 crore in 2019-2020, the Centre's budget for FAME II has increased to INR 1128.45 crore in 2022-23.
