BYD, the world’s leading new-energy vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled the Super e-Platform, a groundbreaking electric vehicle architecture designed to eliminate charging anxiety by matching the refueling speed of traditional combustion engines.

The Super e-Platform brings a complete overhaul of electric powertrain technology, integrating a next-generation motor, electronic control system, and Flash Charging Battery. Its 580kW single power-motor output enables a top speed of over 300 km/h in the newly introduced HAN L and TANG L models, powered by motors capable of 30,000 rpm—both new benchmarks in mass-produced EVs.

At the launch event in Shenzhen, Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD Group, emphasized that the Super e-Platform is a major breakthrough in addressing the final pain point of EV adoption—charging speed. He stated, “Our goal is to make EV charging as fast as refueling a gasoline car, achieving true ‘oil-electric parity’ in charging speed.”

Ultra-High Voltage Architecture, Next-Gen Battery Technology

Achieving this vision requires both ultra-high voltage and high current charging solutions. The Super e-Platform is the first mass-produced passenger car platform to feature an all-domain kilovolt high-voltage architecture, enabling kilovolt-level capacity across the battery, motor, power supply, and air conditioning.

Key innovations include:

    • Flash Charging Battery with an ultra-fast ion channel, enabling a maximum charging rate of 10C and a charging current of up to 1,000A.
    • Industry-first automotive-grade silicon carbide (SiC) power chip, boasting a voltage rating of up to 1,500V, the highest in mass production.

Megawatt Charging

To support its ultra-rapid charging, BYD has developed a full liquid-cooled megawatt flash-charging terminal system that delivers a maximum output of 1,360kW. BYD plans to build over 4,000 megawatt flash-charging stations across China, ensuring nationwide accessibility.

Additionally, BYD has introduced dual-gun charging technology, allowing existing fast chargers to be instantly upgraded to ultra-fast chargers. This 'intelligent boost' feature ensures compatibility with public charging networks, making high-speed charging widely available.

Redefining Future Of Electric Mobility

With its record-breaking charging speed, ultra-high voltage architecture, and advanced powertrain technology, the Super e-Platform is set to redefine the global EV landscape. BYD’s integration of next-generation infrastructure and smart charging solutions reinforces China’s leadership in electrification technology, paving the way for a future where electric mobility is faster, more efficient, and more accessible than ever before.
