BYD India has introduced the BYD EV Innovate-A-Thon in partnership with the Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC). This initiative aims to foster innovation and sustainability among engineering students in India, encouraging them to develop cutting-edge solutions in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
The Innovate-A-Thon is open to engineering students from selected institutions across India and is structured in three stages: an initial online quiz, followed by a digital prototype round, and culminating in a physical prototype creation and sales presentation. The top three teams will be rewarded with significant prizes, with the winning team earning a week-long visit to BYD’s headquarters in Shenzhen. This visit will include sessions with BYD's R&D experts, offering an invaluable opportunity to gain insights and inspiration. The second and third-place teams will receive cash prizes and trophies.
In addition to launching the Innovate-A-Thon, BYD has recently introduced new variants of the BYD ATTO3 model in India, catering to a broader customer base. The company's sustained position within the Top 10 global automotive brands, as reported by the Kantar BrandZ Most Valuable Global Brands 2024, and a brand value exceeding US$10 billion, underscores the trust and success it enjoys among customers.
Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles (EPV) Business at BYD India, highlighted India’s pool of young innovators who are eager to create solutions for a sustainable future. He emphasised that the initiative reflects BYD's commitment to technological innovation and fostering a collaborative environment where the ambitions of future engineers can be realised.
F R Singhvi, President of ASDC, believes that this programme will inspire students to adopt an innovative mindset, preparing them to create sustainable solutions for the future.
