BYD India, a subsidiary of the world's leading New Energy Vehicles (NEV) manufacturer, BYD, has officially initiated bookings for the BYD SEAL. This is BYD’s third product for the Indian market and is expected to be offered here as one fully-loaded model as was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The unveiling of the BYD SEAL is scheduled for March 5th, 2024, in India.
Coinciding with this launch, BYD India is presenting customers with a unique opportunity to witness a UEFA match. A month ago, BYD became the Official Partner and Official E-Mobility Partner of UEFA European Football Championship 2024 (UEFA EURO 2024). This partnership marks the first-ever sponsorship deal between a new energy vehicle maker and the championship.
Customers who secure their booking for the BYD SEAL by April 30th, 2024, stand a chance to participate in an exclusive scheme orchestrated by BYD India. A select number of winners will receive a complimentary UEFA match ticket and a round-trip flight ticket from India to the match city. Information about the winners will be available on BYD's official social media and website (www.bydautoindia.com) in May 2024.
Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India, said, 'We are delighted to commence bookings for the highly anticipated BYD SEAL in India. We are confident that the BYD SEAL, a luxurious sports sedan, will provide our customers in India with a premium and unforgettable driving experience.'
Internationally, the Seal is available with two battery pack options - a 61.4kWh unit and an 82.5kWh pack. The former boasts a claimed range of 550km, while the latter extends it to a claimed 700km. Although specifications for the India-specific Seal have not been disclosed, it is expected to align with the former, consistent with the Atto 3 model. The anticipated pricing for the Seal sedan in India is expected to range between INR 50 lakh and INR 60 lakh, placing it in direct competition with electric alternatives like the BMW i4, as well as traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles like the Mercedes GLB and the Audi Q5.
In the exterior, the Seal features a dynamic fastback design characterised by a rear-sloping roofline and an integrated lip spoiler. Its sporty stance is accentuated by the 18-inch wheels, and the overall futuristic image is complemented by the comprehensive full LED light package. Inside, the Seal shares its cabin design, colour scheme, and features with the Atto 3 SUV, a deliberate move by BYD in line with its strategy to manufacture both vehicles at the Chennai facility.
