BYD India has announced the appointment of Rajeev Chauhan as the Vice President of the Electric Passenger Vehicle Business. He succeeds Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, who retires after a career spanning over three decades in the Indian automotive industry, culminating in the establishment of the EV Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India.

Chauhan brings with him a wealth of experience from a career that spans over 25 years, having held key positions at Honda Cars India and Volvo Car India, among other notable companies. His expertise includes driving innovative strategies across various domains such as retail network development, customer experience enhancement, electrification, direct sales, product development, customer service, and digital transformation. His customer-centric approach has redefined customer experiences, increased market share, and built a highly profitable dealer network, contributing to overall company profitability.

In his new role, Chauhan will lead BYD India’s electric passenger vehicle business, aiming to further BYD's mission of making sustainable technologies and motoring accessible to Indian consumers. 'The world is at the cusp of a brighter and more sustainable future, and BYD has been playing a stellar role in this progress towards a greener tomorrow. It is my honour to be a part of this journey where we can together make sustainable technologies and sustainable motoring more accessible to Indian consumers,” stated Chauhan.

Reflecting on his retirement, Gopalakrishnan said, 'I consider it my good fortune to have worked, learnt, and grown in what I think to be one of the most dynamic and exciting industries in India and the world. I can’t ask for a better way to bow out than to retire at the pinnacle of eco-sensitive, sustainable motoring, which is the blueprint for the future.”
