BYD began its innings in India with the launch of the e6 in the country back in 2021. After launching a few more products for a variety of customers, it set focus on the successor to the e6, dubbed the eMax 7.
Launched earlier this month with prices starting at Rs. 26.9 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated electric MPV builds on the success of the e6 by adding new features, range, more distinctive styling, and an additional battery pack option. The model, unlike its predecessor, which offered only a five-seat layout, also offers the value of a six- or seven-seat setup, thus increasing the value quotient.
BYD has already received 1,000 bookings for the eMax 7, and the electric MPV commands a waiting period of up to two months. While the demand has seen growth, it is not the first time a BYD car had a waiting period. The Seal has received a good response too, even as customers continue to make a beeline for the value-for-money electric sedan.
Speaking to Mobility Outlook, Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles, BYD India, revealed that the customers of the eMax7, based on the current reservation booklet, prefer the top-spec Superior variant and the six-seat layout. Additionally, the Harbour Grey and Crystal White colours witness the better side of the demand.
BYD remains bullish when it comes to sales numbers, more so with the unprecedented demand for the Seal and eMax 7, both of which they expect to go only north in the future. The automaker has also confirmed its presence at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, previously known as the Auto Expo.
