BYD has announced the crossing of the five lakh production mark for its Atto 3 e-SUV. As the first model for the global market, the vehicle has become a hit in several countries, including India, Singapore, New Zealand, Brazil, Thailand, Israel, and Sweden.
Until now, BYD’s passenger vehicles have operated in more than 50 countries and regions. The BYD Atto 3 has held the top spot in Israel’s NEV sales for nine consecutive months and is currently Thailand’s best-selling pure electric vehicle as of July 2023, a press release from the company stated.
Based on the company’s e3 EV platform, the e-SUV features a 60.48kWh Blade battery and a 150kW 310Nm PMSM motor. The company claimed that the Atto 3 comes with an ARAI-certified range of 521 kms.
The platform features an 8-in-1 electric powertrain with a drive motor, motor controller, reducer, onboard charger, DC converter, high voltage distributor box, vehicle controller, and Battery Management System integrated into one unit.
BYD India claims this has allowed for a 20% size reduction and 15% weight reduction with an overall efficiency of more than 89%.
