Bridgestone India will invest INR 600 crore over three years to meet the increasing demand for quality passenger tyres.
A press release states that the money will go into upgrade of technology and increasing capacity at its Chakan plant in Pune.
The facility kicked off production in 2013 and adopts sustainable manufacturing practices including a solar power plant and a carbon-neutral biomass fuel- based boiler plant.
Stefano Sanchini, Managing Director, Bridgestone India, said it aims to bring in its global technologies and manufacturing for the Indian market to ensure more fuel-efficient tyres and better products .
In September 2022, the conpany introduced ‘Sturdo’ tyres with a longer life for the passenger vehicles segment. The tyre has a special tread compound that extends life by up to 29% and improves ride quality on uneven roads.
Bridgestone also has a range of Ecopia tyres engineered with a combination of light and strong materials for greater fuel efficiency and to reduce carbon emissions.
