Brembo announced securing a 100% stake in Öhlins Racing, known for its high-performance suspension technology. The acquisition is valued at $405 million (approximately €370 million) and represents Brembo's largest deal to date. It forms part of the company’s ongoing strategy to expand its portfolio and become a key provider of integrated automotive solutions.

Matteo Tiraboschi, Executive Chairman, Brembo, described Öhlins as a world-renowned brand with a solid reputation both on the racetrack and on the road. He added that integrating Öhlins’ suspension technology would allow Brembo to further solidify its role as a solutions provider, enabling the company to offer a more comprehensive range of intelligent automotive technologies to its customers.

Öhlins Racing, founded in 1976, specialises in high-performance suspension systems for both motorcycles and cars. The company’s products include shock absorbers, steering dampers, and advanced mechatronic systems, and are widely used in top-tier motorsport events such as MotoGP, Formula 1, and NASCAR. With its strong presence in the Original Equipment, Motorsport, and Aftermarket segments, Öhlins is projected to close 2024 with a turnover of approximately $144 million and an EBITDA margin between 21% and 22%.

This acquisition builds on Brembo’s recent investments in the motorcycle and motorsport sectors. In recent years, Brembo has acquired SBS Friction in Denmark and J.Juan in Spain, as well as launched a production site in Thailand dedicated to braking systems for motorcycles. These moves are part of Brembo’s effort to diversify and innovate in the two-wheeler market, which now accounts for approximately 13% of the company's total revenue.

The acquisition is expected to close in early 2025, subject to regulatory approvals, and will be financed using Brembo’s existing cash reserves.
