BPCL and TPEM

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM) have inked an MOU to collaborate on establishing 7,000 public charging stations across India.

This collaboration aims to leverage BPCL's extensive fuel station network and TPEM's wealth of insights from over 1.15 lakh Tata EVs on Indian roads. The strategic placement of chargers at locations frequented by Tata EV owners and a potential co-branded RFID card for convenient payments are among the key initiatives.

The primary objective of this partnership is to enhance the overall EV ownership experience in India. The collaboration is exploring avenues to introduce a seamless payment system through a co-branded RFID card, streamlining the payment process for Tata EV users and fostering wider EV adoption in the country.

Santosh Kumar, Executive Director In charge Retail, BPCL, said that the ongoing effort to convert 7,000 conventional retail outlets into energy stations is part of BPCL's comprehensive decarbonization strategy.

Kumar highlighted BPCL's extensive network of fast-charging stations across highways, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the EV field and the transformative potential of joining forces with TPEM.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, TPEM, emphasised the shared vision of fostering positive change through an enabling infrastructure for the growing EV customer base, leveraging TPEM's insights and BPCL's extensive nationwide network.
