In a boost to electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Northeast India, Bengaluru-based Bounce Infinity has partnered with BaaYu, a pioneering EV bike-taxi service backed by Bikozee Ecotech Pvt Ltd and in collaboration with Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC). This partnership aims to expand the electric vehicle footprint in Assam and marks a significant step in promoting sustainable urban mobility solutions across the region.
Bounce Infinity has already integrated over 100 electric scooters into BaaYu’s growing fleet, with plans to establish a dedicated, private battery-swapping network that will be exclusive to BaaYu. This network is expected to enhance operational efficiency and support the rapid expansion of BaaYu’s services in Assam, particularly in urban centres like Guwahati.
Vivekananda H, CEO of Bounce Infinity, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership, stating, “Our collaboration with BaaYu is not just about expanding our market presence, but also about addressing the critical transportation challenges in cities like Guwahati. By providing efficient, affordable, and eco-friendly transportation options, we are directly contributing to the city’s infrastructure development and reducing the environmental impact of daily commutes.”
The partnership between Bounce Infinity and BaaYu is designed to leverage Bounce Infinity’s expertise in fleet management and electric mobility solutions. The company offers a unique service model that includes optimised total cost of ownership for fleet operators, doorstep maintenance services, and float batteries, ensuring minimal downtime and higher operational efficiency.
Sumit Das, CEO of Bikozee Ecotech, emphasised the broader impacts of the partnership, saying, “Our collaboration with Bounce Infinity represents a significant stride towards sustainable transportation in Assam. By providing accessible and user-friendly transport options, we not only improve daily commutes but also foster economic growth by creating about 5,000 new livelihood opportunities for our driver-partners in the region.”
This initiative is particularly noteworthy as it involves the first state government-backed 100% electric and decentralised open mobility application, setting a precedent for public-private partnerships in innovative urban mobility in India.
