BorgWarner has announced its partnership with SAIC Maxus, supplying locally developed on-demand and high-torque part-time transfer cases for its vehicles.

The collaboration, marking over a decade of association between the two companies, reinforces SAIC Maxus’ market position in China and supports its global expansion. Mass production is set to commence in Q3 2026.

This project showcases our technical expertise and strong local R&D capabilities in China.'

Designed for both 2H and AUTO drive modes, the system offers better fuel efficiency on paved roads compared to full-time 4WD systems. In on-demand 4WD vehicles, the technology enhances safety, handling, and drivability, while the mechanical locking mode ensures superior off-road performance and recovery capability.

With a blend of on-demand and part-time 4WD technologies, BorgWarner’s proven transfer case solutions are set to provide SAIC Maxus with exceptional reliability and market validation, reinforcing its standing in the competitive automotive sector.
