BMW India has launched the seventh-generation M5 featuring an innovative M Hybrid powertrain. The vehicle integrates a 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and a highly efficient electric motor, producing a combined output of 717 bhp and 1,000 Nm of torque. Priced at INR 1.99 crore (ex-showroom) the new BMW M5 is now available as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) unit across India.
The M Hybrid system provides emission-free driving over distances of up to 69 kilometres, while the car’s standard M xDrive system and adaptive M suspension ensure dynamic handling and comfort. The powertrain accelerates the vehicle from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 250 kmph, extendable to 305 kmph with the optional M Driver’s Package. This hybrid integration builds on the performance legacy of the M5 while embracing electrification for improved efficiency.
The exterior elements include a high-gloss black kidney grille, sculpted wheel arches, and an optional carbon roof to reduce weight. The interior showcases features like a BMW Curved Display, M multifunction seats, and a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond sound system. Advanced digital systems, including BMW Operating System 8.5 and enhanced navigation tools, provide seamless user interaction.
Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India, described the new model as a blend of cutting-edge technology and racing heritage. The M5 also offers extensive customisation, including multiple colour options, BMW Individual paint finishes, and M Performance Accessories.
