BMW India has launched the X1 sDrive18i M Sport at INR 48.9 lakh, ex-showroom, India. The company noted that the sports activity vehicle (SAV) will be produced at its group plant in Chennai.
The SUV will be powered by a 1.5L petrol engine paired with a seven-speed steptronic dual-clutch transmission generating 134 hp and 230 Nm of maximum torque.
The new variant gets an M Sport-specific body kit, including front and rear bumpers, gloss black slats in the kidney grilles and a new design for 18-inch alloy wheels. The cabin gets an M Sport steering wheel with shift paddles, electronically adjustable front seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with iDrive 8 OS, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and wireless charging.
Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India, noted that the new X1 has garnered good demand from the market and upheld its dominating position within the segment.
During the launch of the X1, Pawah told Mobility Outlook that the SAV portfolio of the company had a 60% share in the total sales for CY22.
