The BMW Group and Tata Technologies have officially launched BMW TechWorks India, a joint venture aimed at driving digital innovation in the automotive industry.
With offices in Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai, the venture will begin with 100 employees, rapidly scaling to a four-digit workforce by the end of 2025.
The partnership, with each company holding 50% of the shares, emphasises the theme of 'Engineer in India for the World,' aiming to tap into India's rich engineering and IT talent. The joint venture will work on software-defined vehicles (SDVs), automated driving, digital infotainment, and automotive services, while also driving digital innovations in BMW Group's business IT and AI applications.
Christoph Grote, Senior Vice President of Electronics and Software at BMW Group, highlighted India's talent pool as crucial to the company's future in SDVs. Warren Harris, CEO of Tata Technologies, also emphasised the role of the partnership in shaping the future of mobility through innovative automotive software.
The joint venture offers a platform for young Indian professionals to work on breakthrough technologies that will influence the global automotive landscape, reinforcing India's position as a hub for automotive innovation.
