Bookings for the CE 04 electric scooter have been thrown open in India. The CE 04 is all set to be launched on 24 July and once it does, it will be the most expensive electric scooter in the country. The price is expected to sit well above Rs 10 lakh.

The CE 04 looks straight out of a sci-fi movie because of its futuristic looks. It has got an edgy design with sharp crease lines all around. Elements like the floating seat, the layered side panels and the exposed monoshock catch your eye instantly. It’ll surely be a head turner wherever it goes.

The EV is powered by a 15kW, permanent magnet, liquid-cooled synchronous electric motor that produces 41bhp and 61Nm. It can accelerate from 0-50kmph in 2.6s only and hits a top speed of 120kmph. The battery capacity is 8.9kWh and BMW claims it can cover 130km in a single charge. As for the charging time, the standard charger takes a little over four hours to top up the battery. Safety aids include three ride modes- Eco, Rain and Road. Dynamic traction control and ABS pro are offered as optional extras.

Moving on to the hardware, the CE 04 has a steel double loop frame, with a single-bridge telescopic fork at the front and a single sided swingarm with a directly hinged suspension strut at the rear. The scooter rides on 15-inch wheels while 265mm discs at both ends are what bring it to a stop. ABS is standard.

The launch of the CE 04 will be followed by the launch of the CE 02, which is expected to take place after a few months.
