Delhi-based electric cab service provider, BluSmart appoints the first batch of female drivers to its cab fleet.

As part of the company’s new plan, the first group of female drivers took to the BluSmart cabs that currently depart from the BluSmart hub at Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport.

There are currently female drivers on board to drive from the BluSmart hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

For security reasons, the company offers them an 8-hour lease time only during the day - time. It plans to increase the number of women drivers to 500 within one year.

Anmol Jaggi, Co-Founder and CEO, BluSmart Mobility, said that the company aims to create an earning opportunity for everybody and anybody who desires to work. It has onboarded the first set of women driver-partners to start with and are planning to take this number to 50% of its total driver-partner base.”

The reason for choosing the airport hub for the female employees was that they have special facilities such as ladies’ toilets, food courts and airport is safe and well lit due to the high-security measures in this area.

Mamta Rana one of the women driver-partners at BluSmart said, “This is really an amazing opportunity for us here at BluSmart to earn our livelihoods and stand tall in our society. Our safety, which has been a major concern for us and our families, has also been addressed by the company by offering us dayshifts from the airport.”

BluSmart functions on an asset-light model and does not require a driving partner who owns the electric car and brings it to the platform. This relieves the driver of financial and mental stress. This will also help many women in the ecosystem who want to drive to earn a living but are unable to buy a car.
