Bharat Forge Ltd has been recognised with the prestigious IGBC Green Champion Award at the Green Building Congress 2024 in Bengaluru. The award highlights Bharat Forge’s exceptional contributions towards transforming rural villages into IGBC-certified Green Villages focusing towards sustainability and holistic community development. The company’s efforts span areas including drinking water access, irrigation infrastructure, healthcare, education, organic farming, biodiversity conservation, rainwater harvesting, and renewable energy.
Bharat Forge’s initiatives have yielded achievements such as conserving 2,625 TCM of water directly benefiting over 216,000 individuals. The company has constructed 80 kilometres of roads, provided training for 764 farmers, built 34 goat sheds to support livestock management, and established seven telemedicine centres.
Healthcare projects include cancer screening camps for 5,800 women and upgrades to 12 primary health centres, ensuring better medical access. In education, the company has renovated 42 Zilla Parishad schools and educated 1,500 students on environmental awareness. Additionally, 237,000 trees have been planted, and 469 kW of renewable energy infrastructure has been installed to promote energy efficiency.
Notable among Bharat Forge’s accomplishments is the certification of villages such as Dhamner, Saygaon, Rui, Takale, Nagzari, and Targaon as IGBC Green Villages. This distinction reflects the integration of sustainable practices into daily life, creating model communities that prioritise environmental conservation and resource efficiency.
The IGBC Green Champion Award was presented at the Green Building Congress 2024, which centred on the theme 'Advancing Net Zero in Buildings & Built Environment.'
