Bentley Motors has announced an exclusive collaboration with British fashion designer Supriya Lele, unveiling a new bespoke colour Nīla Blue created specifically for its Mulliner range. Inspired by Lele’s Indian heritage the name Nīla comes from the Sanskrit word for 'sapphire,' capturing the essence of refined artistry and cultural depth.
Lele, known for her delicate, body-celebrating silhouettes, has long had a creative connection to the colour blue. The shade is not only prominent in her work but also holds personal significance, shaped by her cultural roots and philosophical inspirations such as William Gass’s 1976 treatise On Blue, which explores the complex symbolism of the colour. This distinctive blue, brought to life by Bentley’s Mulliner artisans, reflects both her unique design philosophy and the restrained elegance that characterises Mulliner’s approach to luxury car personalisation.
To showcase Nīla Blue, Lele collaborated with Mulliner’s team to create a one-of-a-kind specification for the Bentayga S. This bespoke edition showcases Nīla Blue across the exterior, with accents such as a pinstripe on the 22-inch sports wheels and a bold Mulliner White contrast on the carbon fibre body kit, creating a sleek yet subtle aesthetic. Inside, the Bentayga S features custom touches like satin black Naim speaker grilles and open-pore black stained walnut veneers, all bordered by the distinctive blue hue. The effect is a sophisticated harmony of boldness and elegance, echoing Lele’s fashion aesthetic within the vehicle’s interior.
With its blend of traditional craftsmanship and innovative design, this exclusive colour is available only through Mulliner, inviting Bentley’s clientele to explore a new level of personalisation that reflects their unique tastes and cultural inspirations. Bentley enthusiasts can enquire about Nīla Blue through Bentley retailers but the hue remains reserved for those seeking a one-of-a-kind blend of luxury and artistic expression.
