Bajaj Auto has begun deliveries of the Freedom CNG motorcycle in India. A customer in Pune was the first to receive his motorcycle. The company has also said that the bookings for the Freedom have been thrown open across India. That said, the bike will be initially available in Maharashtra and Gujarat, followed by other cities in a phased manner.
The bike is powered by a 125cc, air-cooled, single cylinder engine that produces 9.5bhp at 8,000rpm and 9.7Nm at 5,000rpm. The engine is linked to a five-speed gearbox. It has a 2kg CNG tank and the bike can cover 104km in a kilogram of CNG. That said, the CNG pressure at the pump will have a bearing on the fuel efficiency.
The styling of the bike is quite unique and that is something that commuter motorcycle riders will appreciate. Bajaj has blended form and function very well with the bike. As for features, it gets an LED headlight and tail light while the top variant gets a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.
The Bajaj Freedom goes up against the Honda Shine 125, Hero Xtreme 125 and TVS Raider 125.
