Ashok Leyland, the flagship commercial vehicle manufacturer of the Hinduja Group, has launched its new premium entry-level Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) – ‘SAATHI’ – at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The unveiling was conducted by Honourable Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, Shri HD Kumaraswamy, in the presence of Mr. Shenu Agarwal, MD & CEO of Ashok Leyland. With the introduction of SAATHI, Ashok Leyland aims to set a new benchmark in the competitive entry-level LCV segment.
SAATHI, engineered on advanced LNT (Low Nitrogen Technology) technology, is a disruptive innovation for the market. It boasts impressive specifications, including a best-in-class power output of 45 HP, a torque of 110 Nm, and a 24% larger loading area compared to competitors. Its exceptional payload capacity of 1,120 kg, coupled with superior mileage and larger tyres, ensures both high performance and operational efficiency. One of the key features of SAATHI is its LNT technology, which eliminates the need for AdBlue and simplifies operations for the vehicle owner. The vehicle also comes with a 5-year/2-lakh-km warranty and is priced competitively at ₹6,49,999 for the FSD variant. Its superior ride comfort and practicality make SAATHI an ideal choice for last-mile urban mobility.

Alongside SAATHI, Ashok Leyland also presented two significant innovations at the Expo: the GARUD 15, India’s first multi-axle, front-engine 15-meter premium bus, and the eTIRAN Electric Port-Terminal Tractor.
The GARUD 15 is a game-changer for long-distance intercity travel in India. Specifically designed for India’s diverse road conditions, the GARUD 15 offers the largest saloon space in its category, featuring 42 sleeper berths. It also boasts the highest Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 22,500 kg in its class, maximizing per-trip revenue for bus operators. The bus is equipped with advanced features, including ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and DMS (Driver Monitoring System), ensuring the safety and comfort of both drivers and passengers on long journeys.
The eTIRAN Terminal Tractor, India’s first electric port-terminal tractor, is another remarkable addition to Ashok Leyland’s portfolio. This electric-powered tractor is designed for the rigorous demands of port operations. With a customizable battery range of 180-350 km, it is equipped with a purpose-built, air-conditioned cabin offering a 360-degree view for easy ingress and egress. The eTIRAN is also fitted with advanced safety features, such as ADAS alerts and hill-start assist, making it a robust and sustainable solution for port freight operators.
