Ashok Leyland To Supply FAT 4x4, GTV 6X6 To Indian Army

Ashok Leyland has announced to have bagged an order of INR 800 crore from the Defense Sector for Field Artillery Tractor (FAT 4x4) and the Gun Towing Vehicle (GTV 6x6).

A press release from the company noted that over the next 12 months, it will diligently deliver these cutting-edge vehicles to meet the requirements of the Indian Army.

The FAT 4x4 and GTV 6x6 are specialised vehicles the Artillery employs for towing light and medium guns, respectively. Both these platforms were prominently featured in the initial positive indigenisation list announced by the Government of India.

Shenu Agarwal, MD and CEO, Ashok Leyland, noted that the defence business has been a strong pillar of growth for the company, and this win further establishes its leadership in the defence mobility vehicles business.

Amandeep Singh, President – Defence Business, Ashok Leyland, stated that the company has invested in the development of mobility platforms ranging from 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 10x10 & 12x12 for various applications and operational requirements of the Indian Armed Forces. 

These platforms are indigenously designed, developed and manufactured by Ashok Leyland and contribute significantly towards import substitution, he added.
