
Ashok Leyland has announced a major development in its defence business with the confirmation of multiple orders exceeding INR 700 crore. The contracts, secured from the Ministry of Defence, include troop carriers, logistic support vehicles and specialised mobility platforms designed to serve operational requirements under the Close-in Weapon Systems (CIWS) programme.
The contract covers a wide array of advanced military-grade vehicles including the Stallion 4x4 and 6x6 platforms, short chassis buses, and mobility system travelling platforms. These vehicles are specifically designed to perform in rugged terrain and under challenging field conditions, ensuring uninterrupted support for logistics and troop movement across operational environments.
Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ashok Leyland, reiterated the company’s vision of delivering high-performance, reliable solutions for the armed forces and emphasised that the defence business remains central to its growth plans.
Amandeep Singh, President – Defence Business, Ashok Leyland, said that the company’s platforms, ranging from 4x4 to 12x12 vehicles, have become key assets for the Indian armed forces thanks to their adaptability, durability, and defence-specific features such as armouring. He affirmed the company's dedication to on-time delivery and added that the future order pipeline remains strong, with several tenders under evaluation.
