Chennai-based commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland said that its plants will be working for more days in July than May and June, ranging from six to 25 days across various plant locations, according to a regulatory filing to BSE.
Due to the second wave and low demand, the company announced earlier that its plant would operate for up to 10 days in June, while in the month of May the company plant operated for up to 15 days.
The company said the overall market demand in July ’21 is better than in June ’21. It posted a 169% jump in total sales at 6,448 units in June 2021 compared to 2,394 units in the same month last year.
In terms of Q1 performance, the commercial vehicle manufacturer’s Profit After Tax (PAT) rose by 5.5 times at INR 377 crore than the INR 58 crore for the same period last fiscal.
The consolidated revenue for the company stood at INR 8,142 crore in Q1FY21, up 60% compared to INR 5,088 crore in Q1FY20.
