Ashok Leyland, flagship of the Hinduja Group, has launched what it claims is the industry’s first 8-wheeler truck. Dubbed AVTR 2620, the company shared that the truck offers a payload of 25.5 tonne with the lift axle down, and 18.5 T tonne with the lift axle up.
Consumers can choose to operate the truck in 6X2 and 4X2 options because of the axle up and axle down features. AVTR 2620 comes powered by Ashok Leyland’s 200 hp engine featuring iGen6 technology. It is built on Ashok Leyland's AVTR modular truck platform, which the company claims to offer flexibility of multiple cabin and feature options.
The loading span of the truck ranges from 24 ft to 32 ft. It will be retailed bundled with digital solutions like i-Alert (advanced telematics) and remote diagnostics, the company said.

Ashok Leyland will be selling the AVTR 2620 in the cowl and three cabin options namely, N Cab, U Cab and M Cab. The N Cabin variant features a suspended cab with dampers, suspended driver seat, anti-roll bar in the front, excellent storage spaces, full metal front fascia, music system, AC & HVAC options.
