Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland has formed an Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Committee to guide the company in its journey to accomplish a sustainable ecosystem. 

Headed by an Independent Director, the committee's role will be to provide appropriate guidance in the company's journey on organisation-wide ESG initiatives, priorities, and leading ESG practices.

According to Dheeraj Hinduja, Chairman, Ashok Leyland, the committee will help accelerate the adoption of leading ESG practices into the business and focus on being sustainable and socially responsible. The endeavor is to create sustainable opportunities for people, businesses and communities that the company works with. 

Vipin Sondhi, MD & CEO, Ashok Leyland, said that while the company's focus is to be a top 10 global CV player, it is also amalgamated with a deep sense of social responsibility in its operations. The formation of this committee will propel its efforts in taking the ESG agenda forward.

N V Balachander will head the ESG initiatives and lead the company's sustainability agenda and work with the newly formed Board Committee to create new benchmarks in sustainability for the auto industry.
