Ashok Leyland, the country’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer has launched a powerful new range of AVTR tippers. The AVTR 2832 and AVTR 3532 models are powered by the 8.0L A6 Series engines with iGEN6 technology, that generate 320 hp and deliver 1,200 Nm torque.
The engines, indigenously designed and developed by Ashok Leyland, are globally benchmarked, the company said. The AVTR range until now was available with H6 and A4 engines that deliver a maximum of 250 hp.
Considering the need for a vehicle in the deep mining tipper segment, the CV maker has now launched this new range of tippers that can negotiate steep gradients with very high payloads. The company expects to fulfil the requirements of customers in road construction, irrigation, deep mining, boulder quarry and others.
The new tipper range features a heavy-duty hub reduction rear axle with 7.2:1 deeper ratio for superior torque at wheels for higher gradeability and faster turnaround time. The company has also added a newly designed heavy-duty bogie suspension with higher diameter U-bolts. This would help withstand severe articulation on off-road and improved V-rod and radius rod to efficiently handle lateral forces and ensure roll stiffness, said the company.
Apart from the high hp engines, the new tippers get 430 mm diameter clutch that aids higher durability and uptime. On offer is a heavy-duty nine-speed direct drive gearbox with suitable ratios and fully synchronized shifting for better torque transmission, pickup and long life, the company stated.
The products have been designed for lower maintenance, and from a safety perspective, the A6 engine has engine brake feature that ensures superior retarding power in downhill operations with load. Moreover, the tippers come fitted with 10 bar brake system and anti-roll bar for better stability and safety while cornering.
Sanjay Saraswat, Head – M&HCV, Ashok Leyland said the new tippers would provide higher productivity and efficiency to Ashok Leyland customers. “We have always attempted to identify product gaps and fill those with differentiated products, and the AVTR High Horse Power Tippers are a testimony to Ashok Leyland’s commitment towards the same,” he said.
“The new range has been built with a focus on higher productivity, increased fuel efficiency, improved long-haul commutes with better ground clearance in difficult terrains, in-house designed hydraulic system to reduce the maintenance time, and will deliver overall on a lower total cost of ownership,” said Sanjeev Kumar, Head – M&HCV, Sales & Network, Ashok Leyland.
