The Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) has joined hands with Hero MotoCorp to rollout a comprehensive short-term training course on preventive maintenance and repair of two-wheelers.
The ‘Two-Wheeler Preventive Maintenance & Repair’ programme has been designed for 63 days of theory and practicals at the approved skill development centre, and will be followed by 14 days of ‘on the job training’ at authorised two-wheeler service centres.
The content would be provided by the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, which will then be utilised by ASDC to deliver a variety of learning modules and certifications in automotive servicing. Through this programme, ASDC will also enhance its capacity and capabilities in curriculum building, along with faculty training, to meet global standards, a release issued to the media stated.
The course has been approved by the apex regulator National Council of Vocational Education & Training (NCVET) in the apprenticeship portal. This initiative will help develop customised courses, including BS6 technology, EVs and HEVs.
Hero MotoCorp’s partnership with ASDC will further enhance the programme, develop new training course curriculums and certification of trainers and students for future, in consultation with experts from the automotive industry and from academia, said Vinod Agarwal, President, ASDC. This partnership will allow ASDC to reach a large number of youths, who can be skilled and subsequently gainfully employed in the industry, he said.
