Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, has formally launched its new office-cum-vehicle testing facility at the National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) in Indore. This move marks a strategic expansion of ARAI's reach into Central India, aiming to enhance the speed and efficiency of homologation and vehicle certification processes.

The facility, titled ARAI – Vehicle Evaluation Lab Workplace, is equipped to provide critical testing and validation services required by vehicle manufacturers, system suppliers and tyre companies across India. Dr Mathai underlined the importance of such a presence in the region, noting the evolving needs of the Indian automotive sector which is increasingly influenced by technological disruptions and new regulatory frameworks. He emphasised that the facility will enable more direct and timely support to manufacturers in areas such as certification, homologation, and vehicle dynamics testing.

Located within the NATRAX premises, known for its comprehensive vehicle testing infrastructure, the new ARAI facility is expected to play a vital role in future mobility solutions. The expansion is not only aimed at accommodating growing industry demands but also ensuring that modern automotive systems are tested under rigorous and standardised conditions. By being closer to central and northern automotive hubs, the facility can contribute to faster turnaround times and improved industry readiness for upcoming mobility challenges.
