The global leader in intelligent sensors and emitters, ams OSRAM, has announced a significant advancement in the field of autonomous driving technology with the introduction of the SPL S8L91A_3 A01. This product, an 8-channel 915nm SMT pulsed laser in a QFN package, promises to enhance the effectiveness and reliability of long-range LiDAR systems, which are crucial for autonomous vehicles such as passenger cars, trucks, and Robo Taxis.

The SPL S8L91A_3 A01 is the world's first AEC-Q102 qualified 8-channel edge-emitting laser (EEL) in a QFN package, offering a peak optical power of 1,000 watts and efficiency of up to 30%. This cutting-edge technology significantly improves long-range, high-resolution LiDAR systems, enhancing the operation, navigation, and data processing capabilities of autonomous vehicles.
