Ampere Electric is gearing up for the launch of its new electric scooter on 30 April. It is likely going to be called the Nexus and is based on a brand new platform. This scooter will mark Ampere’s entry into the premium electric scooter space.
The new Ampere scooter has been spotted testing on multiple occasions and it looks like a proper family-oriented scooter. That explains the large dimensions, long seat to accommodate two adults and enough space on the floorboard to place a shopping bag. The design, too, is neat and simple which will appeal to the target customer.
The scooter is likely to get all-LED lights, TFT display that could feature Bluetooth connectivity and navigation. These features have become standard on a number of e- scooters in the segment.
As for the chassis, expect to see an underbone frame, with a telescopic fork at one end and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels and in a first for Ampere, there’s a disc brake at the front.
Expect Ampere to price the scooter between Rs 1.2 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh, ex-showroom.
