Ammann Group Acquires Volvo CE’s ABG Pavers mobility outlook

Ammann Group has completed the acquisition of Volvo Construction Equipment’s (Volvo CE) ABG paving product line. Ammann plans to leverage its extensive industry knowledge and customer relationships to further develop ABG pavers. The Hameln facility in Germany will become the Centre of Excellence for paving operations within the group, ensuring continued excellence and innovation.

The ABG product range includes a variety of pavers and screeds, suitable for a wide range of applications, from airports to highways. These products are known for their advanced technology, ease of operation, reliability, and build quality. They are designed to minimise fuel consumption, reduce emissions, and operate quietly, with both tracked and wheeled pavers available.

ABG screeds, a key differentiator for the brand, have consistently raised the bar in the asphalt industry. The introduction of the first hydraulically adjustable, high-compaction screed set a new standard, and recent advancements, such as the e+ screed heat system, continue this tradition of innovation.

Hans-Christian Schneider, CEO of Ammann, stated “ABG is a strong brand that we’re proud to welcome to Ammann. We will continue to build on ABG’s exceptional product line and reputation.” The transaction ensures that ABG pavers and screeds will remain in production at the Hameln facility, with Ammann’s production sites in Mehsana, India, and Suzhou, China, set to contribute to ABG paver manufacturing in the near future.

Established in 1945, ABG has evolved from a construction equipment repair shop into one of the most renowned paving brands worldwide. Recently, ABG introduced a new electric paver at INTERMAT 2024 in Paris, showcasing its commitment to innovation.
