Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (ARE&M) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with IIT Tirupati to establish the Dr R N Galla Visiting Chair Professorship in Advanced Energy Storage Technologies. The Dr R N Galla Visiting Chair Professorship, set to commence in 2025, will span a decade and recognise outstanding global faculty and scientists in the energy storage domain. The awardee will spend up to eight weeks annually at IIT Tirupati, delivering lectures, conducting workshops, and fostering research collaborations. This initiative aims to enhance the academic experience of students and bolster the institution’s reputation.
Jayadev Galla, Chairman and Managing Director of ARE&M, stated “We are honoured that IIT Tirupati has agreed to establish the Dr R N Galla Visiting Chair Professorship in Advanced Energy Storage Technologies. It’s a tribute to Amara Raja's Founder Dr R N Galla, who has transformed the industry and lives over the past four decades. We are proud to facilitate this unique opportunity to expose young bright minds to the latest global developments in the field of new energy.”
This initiative aligns with ARE&M's commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and pioneering developments in the energy and mobility sectors. Recently, ARE&M announced the development of one of India’s largest Giga factories for Li-ion cell and battery pack manufacturing, with an investment of INR 9,500 crore in Telangana, set to begin operations this year. Additionally, ARE&M plans to establish 'ePositive Energy Labs,' an innovation and research centre to advance R&D in energy storage.
