In a bid to enhance its capabilities in providing hands-on and experiential training to its fast-growing employee base, including pilots, cabin crew, engineers and airport services and security personnel, Akasa Air has inaugurated phase two of its training and development centre - Akasa Air Learning Academy (AALA) in Gurugram.
The facility has multiple large-sized training rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology, a library of aviation knowledge resources such as manuals and research case studies, breakouts rooms, booths and relaxation areas. It will also include a mock-up of the aircraft cabin for service training.
The features of the new training module include a door trainer for next-generation aircraft. The airline noted that the state-of-the-art door trainer enables the cabin crew to practice normal and emergency situations in a realistic environment. The hands-on operation and practical training on Type I main door and Type III automatic over-wing exit is provided, in addition to the simulation of regular flight phase scenarios such as push back, taxi, cruise, descent and landing along with pre-recorded announcements. The door trainer is equipped to simulate multi-scenario emergency situation management.
Making training even more effective in real-world environments, the trainer matches the operational characteristics of the aircraft equipment and is designed to facilitate cabin crew with the highest possible levels of safety and emergency training.
Vinay Dube, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Akasa Air, said that the airline is confident about the future and will continue to invest in it.
The expansion of the training academy is a testament to the airline’s deep commitment in creating an employee and customer-centric organisation, he said, adding that the academy will not just mould employees to become the champions of Akasa culture and values but also develop a future-ready workforce to gain a competitive advantage in the aviation landscape.
In July 2022, ahead of its commercial launch, the airline invested in a 14,000sq ft dedicated Learning Academy to deliver training on various aspects of safety, service, and quality. The new facility adds another 20,000 sq ft of technologically forward learning capabilities for the modern aviation world. The expansion builds capabilities for Akasa Air to train over 700 future-ready aviation professionals.
Both the facilities equip the airline to offer regulatory and safety, service and operational training covering service excellence, leadership, communication, departure control system, safety & emergency procedures, first aid, advanced computerised reservation & check-in training, the press release from the airline noted.
The training modules at AALA are designed by some of the industry’s finest faculty with rich experience and expertise to provide the employees with the knowledge and skills required to achieve greater success in the airline business across various roles.
The learning and development opportunities go beyond safety, service and soft skills and include a development philosophy that endeavours to build employees with high levels of confidence, pride and focus on self-care.
