Renault had, at the start of the year, announced that it would be bringing four cars to India as a part of the Renaulution plan over the next two years. The first piece of that plan is the next-generation Duster SUV, while the second piece has been officially revealed in the form of the Dacia Bigster. It’s a longer version of the Duster and comes with the same engines and cabin features, and with a seven-seat layout.

It’s that very seven-seat layout that will be important as it will allow Renault to have a two-pronged approach in the segment. While the Duster will take on cars like the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos, the Bigster will have its work cut out when facing cars like the Hyundai Alcazar, Kia Carens and the Mahindra XUV700.

Along with the Duster and the Bigster, Renault will also launch a facelift for the Kiger and a small electric vehicle, which is likely to be a localised version of the Dacia Spring EV. All four cars will be in the Indian market by early 2026. In parallel, Nissan too will launch the same vehicles but with a modified top hat. They will be produced at the same Chennai factory, not just for India but for export purposes too.
