3 Screen Solutions - TomTom

In a significant move, 3 Screen Solutions (3SS), a leader in TV and multiscreen entertainment software, has partnered with TomTom, a specialist in location technology, to integrate their platforms. This collaboration was unveiled during the Rapid+TCT additive manufacturing event and aims to enhance in-car entertainment with cutting-edge technology.

The 3Ready entertainment user experience technology is now integrated with TomTom's advanced digital cockpit solution. 3Ready Automotive delivers entertainment to vehicle displays, offering customisable and user-centric experiences.

The collaboration between TomTom and 3SS offers vehicle manufacturers new opportunities to monetise in-cockpit entertainment while strengthening brand relationships. The TomTom Digital Cockpit SDK, known for its modular and flexible architecture, now integrates seamlessly with 3Ready Automotive. This synergy ensures faster time-to-market, reduced costs, and minimized technology risks for carmakers.

As display screens in vehicles become larger and more advanced, the in-car video experience improves. With the rise of electrification, drivers spend more time in their vehicles, particularly during charging, creating a demand for enjoyable or productive activities. Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) also free up drivers’ attention, offering new opportunities for engagement.

The 3Ready platform offers carmakers the chance to monetise in-car displays by turning them into targeted communication channels. This capability allows for delivering marketing content and product information directly to the vehicle’s display console, enhancing brand loyalty and customer relationships.

The integration of automotive APIs and TomTom Map SDK data points enables personalised content recommendations based on the user’s state and driving scenario. For example, when a video is paused, the system can recommend nearby businesses, allowing seamless navigation with a single click.

3Ready’s built-in content aggregation, management, and monetisation capabilities allow OEMs to adapt the user experience dynamically through a web-based content management system. Marketing, Brand, and Customer Relationship teams can engage with customers in real-time, delivering targeted content, promotions, and live events without software updates.

Lyle Baumgarten, Product Manager at TomTom, said, “3Ready Automotive is the ideal complement to the TomTom Digital Cockpit SDK for next-level entertainment experiences. This partnership enables OEMs to offer engaging entertainment that transforms the driving experience.”

Felix Walter, 3SS Head of Automotive, commented, “OEMs are prioritising in-vehicle entertainment to differentiate themselves by offering superior in-cockpit experiences, generating revenues, and increasing customer engagement.”

“This contextualization capability, enabled by our location-based technology, marks a significant step forward in the future of connected car entertainment and business,” said Baumgarten.
