Now available at dealerships, the 45 kWh battery pack adds more range for your buck, and the Red DARK edition is an added bonus.

Tata Nexon.ev 45 mobility outlook

Tata Motors has lifted the appeal of the Nexon.ev with a new 45 kWh battery pack, and a top spec Red DARK special edition. Charging has also seen a significant boost. The battery can go from 10% to 80% in 40 minutes using a 60 kW DC fast charger owing to its 1.2C charging rating. This makes it ideal for urban commuters who might be short on time but still want a quick top-up before hitting the road again.

The 45 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack has an ARAI-certified range of 489 kilometres (Urban + Extra Urban) and a more realistic real-world range of 350–370 kilometres, which Tata predicts as the more realistic approach combining the data from most EV users. Longer range also allows longer journeys without sacrificing comfort or performance, and quick charging rates for continuing journeys with ease. We’ll take it for a drive out soon to tell you more about how that range translates.

The Red DARK edition has distinct red-themed accents that further make it stand out from the actual DARK editions. There are aero inserts in the alloy wheels, and functional aero vents, ensuring the vehicle looks as dynamic as it drives. LED strips running across the front and rear provide a commanding road presence, while bi-functional LED DRLs with sequential indicators offer a modern touch. The red bits though are mostly inside, with just the DARK badge with a red highlight visible outside. Not colouring the callipers red feels like a missed opportunity to make it look cooler.

The vehicle comes with a voice-assisted wide panoramic sunroof adding even more air and drama to Nexon.ev’s cabin. The digital control system blends seamlessly with the leatherette ventilated seats, which are an excellent red on the DARK Red edition. Tata’s Arcade.ev platform is also part of the package, giving drivers access to entertainment apps like Amazon Prime, Hotstar, and YouTube through the 12.3-inch cinematic touchscreen by Harman, combined with a powerful JBL sound system.

Another great feature is the frunk with 11.6 litres of storage capacity, adding practicality to the list of this vehicle’s strengths.

The Nexon.ev offers bi-directional charging. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology allows the vehicle to not only draw power but also supply it for your accessories for outdoor equipment, or even for emergencies. Also through Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging it can even charge other compatible EVs, just so you can lend a hand to your fellow Nexon EVs.

The Nexon.ev 45 also retains Tata’s multi-drive modes, enabling drivers to choose between City, Eco, and Sport modes, depending on their driving needs. A smart digital shifter and paddle shifters allow for intuitive control over the vehicle’s regenerative braking system, exuding some sort of performance touches like an ICE gearbox would provide.

In terms of safety, you get the lot, including six airbags, hill ascent and descent control, traction control, and electronic parking brakes. Further, the vehicle is built on a platform that is rated five stars by both GNCAP and BNCAP, giving drivers peace of mind on our unpredictable roads.

The price for this premium EV starts at INR 13.99 lakh, with the Red DARK edition priced at INR 17.19 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). For an electric SUV offering buckets of features, longer range, quicker charging and premium design elements, the Nexon.ev 45 is a great option.
