Celebrating its 90th birthday, Nissan's legacy as an automotive trailblazer has been cemented, with its electric vehicles (EVs) earning a prestigious spot among the world's greatest transport innovations. From the 1947 Tama EV to the groundbreaking LEAF in 2010 and future concepts like the Hyper Punk and Hyper Urban, Nissan's nine decades are a testament to its daring spirit of innovation.
In honour of this milestone, Nissan conducted a survey of 2,000 UK adults, gauging opinions on significant transport innovations. Notably, the company's LEAF secured the 19th spot on the list, with EVs recognized as holding the most promise for the future of UK sustainability.
Looking ahead, the survey revealed that 69% believe new technologies will play a pivotal role in reducing the environmental impact of transportation. Furthermore, 27% support integrating artificial intelligence into the car industry, while 29% advocate the same for public transport.
To bring its 90-year history to life, Nissan employed artificial intelligence, comparing its first electric car, the Tama (1947), to the modern-day Ariya EV.
Top Transport Innovations of the Last 90 Years
Andrew Humberstone, Managing Director of Nissan GB, expressed pride in Nissan's pioneering spirit and its commitment to delivering groundbreaking innovations.
The survey highlighted that 70% believe transport innovations have positively impacted their lives, with 54% stating it has made traveling more accessible. Additionally, 71% agreed that innovations improved their ability to travel, while 43% could travel to longer-distance locations, thanks to various advancements.
As the world celebrates Nissan's rich automotive journey, the company remains focused on sharing more design, technology, and driving excitement with its customers in the future. The survey underscored the continued significance of innovative technologies, emphasizing the promising future of electric vehicles for sustainable road travel and scientific advancement.
