Maruti Suzuki has launched the latest iteration of its Dzire sedan to breathe new life into the Indian compact sedan market, which has recently seen an incline towards SUVs. Designed to balance efficiency with innovation, the fourth-generation Dzire comes with upgraded styling, an advanced Z-series engine, and higher safety standards tailored for Indian consumers. As Hisashi Takeuchi, MD & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd stated how Dzire has been the best-selling compact in its segment because of the balance of comfort and efficiency. He further added that the focus of the new Dzire will only be for the private buyer segment.
Sedan Market In India
The sedan has historically held an aspirational appeal for Indian families and young professionals alike. Maruti Suzuki Dzire hopes to redefine expectations by combining technological advancements and fuel efficiency pulling people towards compact sedans. While SUVs have gained substantial popularity, Maruti Suzuki’s focus on the Dzire highlights the brand's belief in the sedan as a core vehicle type delivering the spaciousness and stability consumers value for family travel, commutes, and long-distance journeys. Do not forget, the design inherent in sedans will always be sophisticated and more stable than the butch tall-riding body-rolling dynamics of SUVs.
Engineered For Efficiency
At the heart of the Dzire’s performance improvements is the new Z-series engine, specifically tuned to handle Indian roads. With a displacement of 1197cc, it generates 80 bhp at 5,700 rpm and 111.7 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. The Dzire’s CNG variant delivers 33.73 km per kg, making it India’s most fuel-efficient sedan. The petrol variant’s fuel efficiency reaches 24.79 kmpl for manual transmission and 25.71 kmpl for AGS (Auto-Gear Shift meaning Automated-Manual Transmission) catering to the Indian demand for economical and sustainable options amid rising fuel prices.
Safer For Indian Conditions
Maruti Suzuki’s emphasis on safety with the new Dzire aligns with the increasing importance of protective features for Indian buyers. Equipped with six airbags, Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with hill-hold assistance and a 360-degree high-definition camera, the Dzire is designed for India’s busy city roads and unpredictable highways. The Dzire’s five-star Global NCAP safety rating should provide assurance to Indian families. Yes, Dzire has a sunroof now which is a welcome addition for customers who need it. Features like the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) add an extra layer of convenience on long journeys and less maintained roads.
Cabin Designed Comfort
The interior gets a dual-tone cabin, creating a spacious atmosphere. A wide wheelbase of 2450 mm provides rear-seat passengers ample legroom and comfort. The new suspension setup will further add to the comfort and stability of this compact sedan. The centrepiece of its infotainment system is a 9-inch SmartPlay ProPlus touchscreen, which offers wireless connectivity to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, essential for India’s increasingly tech-savvy drivers. The addition of Arkamys SoundSense technology for audio quality and a wireless charging option caters to growing tastes.
Customisation Packages
Recognising the penchant for personalisation in India’s automobile market, Maruti Suzuki offers two customisation packages for the Dzire:
Copperico Package: This customisation package features Midnight Black details with copper accents on body side mouldings and spoilers, appealing to younger buyers looking for an edge in design. Luxe Silver Waveflow seat covers, premium carpet mats, and Classic Birch interior styling kit add shophistication to the cabin aesthetic.
Chromico Package: This package includes chrome finishes on the grille and body mouldings, along with a sunbeam seat cover for a premium feel. Accessories like stainless steel door sill guards and all-weather 3D mats ensure durability and ease of maintenance, appealing to the practical driver.
